After buying my Ion last year I began looking very seriously into what marker I should buy next. I felt like eventually I was going to need a heavy duty marker in the $500 range, opposed to the entry level markers I've been using for two years now.

The Tac-One is what I have my eyes on now.

I saw someone on Imminent Threat bust one out at NJ Nam as a loaner - I would be every interested in discussing it with you, or anyone who has used or owned one of these markers.

I've heard that their either a 1 or a 10 in players opinions - love em or hate em. I know the Level 10 never chops - but I know NOTHING about AGD's markers.

Any information anyone can pass onto me would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

That would be SmallBlock, Hobbo has a tac-one also. They're good guns, but in all honesty, you never "need" a $400-500 gun. Remember that in paintball you're limited more by your projectile (the paintball itself, and its really shitty ballistic properties) than anything else. The only things a marker can provide are rate of fire, consistency, reliability, and ergonomics. So if what you've got already takes care of that, you really don't need anything else. Or you can go and be a gun-whore like me ;)

Personally, I'd just spend a few more bucks on upgrades to the Ion. Deadlywind HollowPoint bolt kit, CP/Palmer's/AKA 2.0Liter reg, and an APE board will have that Ion outperforming most of the markers out there, even ones that cost $600 and up. I know at the Cousins big game, my Ion with the DW bolt, CP reg, SP360 QEV, and carefully tuned dwell and recharge settings was getting 8 pods and a hopper and was only using about 2000-2500 psi out of my 88/4500 tank. It was also only showing a variation of 2-3 fps over the chrono. I don't care what marker you have, its not going to be any more consistent than that. And add on a carbon barrel or a carbon tip to your barrel kit (stiffi makes tips for a lot of different barrel back kits), and it becomes almost silent. I've had refs are chrono stations repeatedly ask me what gun I had and how I got it so quiet. When people who chrono 100 people or more every weekend and see all types of guns come through tell me I've got the quietest gun they've ever heard, I take that to heart.

Well I guess it depends what you are looking for. I love my Tac One. But if you shoot ALOT it may not be for you. They do tend to be air hogs but they're accurate, quiet and easy to maintain.

The level ten needs to be set up but there's good instructions on AO about that. All the info you could ever need on an Automag is on AO.

You need HPA to run the Xvalve in the Tac One, it's recharge rate is so high that it freezes with C02.

Hmmm, where to start with all this... Alright, Mags are made up of different parts and you can swap alot of them around. There's the body, the rail, trigger frame, valve/bolt, & vert adapter.

If you wanted to use C02 you could swap the X-valve out for a classic/minimag/micromag/A.I.R. valve and it would run off either type of gas.

There's two "styles" of valves.

The Classic/Minimag/Micromag A.I.R. valve. Can use either type of gas and I believe is more efficient.

Then there's the RT valves. RT valve/ReTroValve/Emag valve/X Valve. These become reactive when you use an adjustable bottle reg. to feed the valve around 950-1000 psi. At about 3000psi, the RT valve will shoot about 32bps; fully mechanical :D

If you grabbed a marker with a ULE body and wanted the Tac body you could swap though too. Same with rails and trigger frames. I have a trigger frame made by Logic and a rail made by RPG (Magsmith), they change the look/feel. Some are milled for weight reduction.

Here's a pic of mine & below are some links to some cool things.

If you have anymore questions ask away and I'll be more then happy to help. I'll even let you run my Mag at a game.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm actually writing down notes for this stuff so I remember it all!

I will HAVE to take you up on that offer to run it for a game. That would be awesome. Thanks a lot.
